Solvent Recycling Solutions (SRS) now certified as a “Climate Solution” under the Exponential Roadmap Initiative’s (ERI) Climate Solutions Framework thanks to reducing CO₂e emissions by up to 81% compared to other solvent processes on the market.
By developing new recycling and circular solutions Vilokan together with Ragn-Sells in the SRS joint venture are taking action to shift society towards net zero. Products from the SRS now qualify according to the ERI’s Climate Solutions Framework, which requires significant emission reductions compared to business-as-usual.
The Climate Solutions Framework was developed under the Exponential Roadmap Initiative to guide financial institutions and corporations in making informed decisions that lead to significant emissions reductions while avoiding greenwashing. This framework sets out criteria anchored in science for defining climate solutions and climate solutions companies.
The ERI itself is a collaborative climate initiative uniting companies that are innovators, disruptors and transformers to drive exponential action to halve emissions by 2030 while raising business results. ERI is an accredited partner of the Race to Zero, led by the United Nations High-Level Climate Champions.
“An important factor in getting more companies to dare to switch to recycled products or circular cycles is to be able to show that it works. Quality-assured data and measurable results are therefore one of our most important areas of development. The Climate Solutions Framework makes it clear that our technology is to be trusted in the future of sustainable development,” says Lars Rosell, Deputy CEO of Vilokan Group.
SRS is a joint venture between environmental technology company Vilokan Group and environmental company Ragn-Sells. Through advanced technology, we create new products from what was previously considered waste with the capacity to process up to 20,000 tons of waste solvents per year, including substances such as:
· acetone 81% lower carbon footprint compared to solvent processes on the market
· etanol 74% lower carbon footprint compared to solvent processes on the market
· propylene glycol 63% lower carbon footprint compared to solvent processes on the market
“For us at Vilokan Group, innovation and collaboration is at the core of our work. We continue to put sustainability in focus by proactively driving change and minimizing our impact on both nature and society. Partnerships such as SRS, our joint venture with Ragn-Sells, and our participation in the Exponential Roadmap Initiative (ERI) are key ways to strengthen collaboration.” says Johan Brandberg, CEO of Vilokan Group.
